Dining Room at Sunset

This photograph is a triple exposure taken with my 4x5 view camera mounted on a tripod. The first exposure was two seconds for the sunset. A few minutes later it was totally dark and I turned on the room lights and took a two minute exposure. The room lights were then tuned off for a two hour time exposure of the city lights.

The windows each have motorized blinds which retract through slots in the ceiling. Since the corner windows are mitered glass with no corner posts, the blinds, too, needed to meet at the corners. This created a unique design problem and made it necessary to suspended the light soffits from rods which can be seen in this photograph. The design was rather complex, the tolerances were tight, and I was greatly relieved at the end of the job when everything worked!
