The overall design concept consisted of a dome, two vaulted roofs ending in half-domes, and the circular kitchen with a flat roof. I framed the entire house working alone and found it was not as difficult as expected. A steel beam cantilevered from the circular kitchen supports 4x12 beams which were cut in curves from larger 4x20 beams. Similarly, the rest of the framing members were cut in curves from straight dimensional lumber. Naturally, this required a lot of cutting, but most of the curves could be ripped using a regular Skillsaw.
