This cardboard and
wood model shows the relationship of the various forms, including a shallow dome over the
living room, a section from a cone enclosing the kitchen, vaulted roofs ending in half
domes over the two wings, and stone arches for the carport. The construction of the actual
"full scale" house was not so difficult as would be imagined. I worked entirely
alone on the concrete footings, rough framing and the finish work, subbing out plumbing,
electrical, plastering and stonework. Wood joists and beams were cut in curves from larger
members, and I also did numerous other jobs such as the welding, painting, and even all
the pick and shovel work.
