The stonemason found a large supply of stone lying on the surface of a hillside near the house. It was naturally weathered and of just the right size, requiring only minor cutting. The moss-covered pieces we stockpiled for use on the fireplaces. The home was so closely designed to its site that no machine grading was necessary.
