LIVING ROOM

The basic design of this home was accomplished in only 2 1/2 days, including a preliminary perspective of the house as viewed from the road (click "VIEW FROM ROAD") and also a preliminary perspective showing the relationship of this couch and the fireplace. There was to be much remodeling and changes to the house over the years, but I would never alter these two views.

The large fireplace was first tested while the house was still under construction and the window glass had not yet been installed. Some friends had gathered for a memorable party during a rainstorm and we used scrap lumber to build a fire so hot it cracked the stone on the hearth. Over the years the crack was never a flaw but a reminder of a happy evening with good friends.
