LIVING ROOM @ SUNSET

The furniture for this house, like the house itself, was designed on a theme of equilateral triangles. The furniture was actually built right there in the living room which served as my temporary workshop during construction. The triangular tables can be grouped together in various arrangements, and the lamps, coffee tables, and footstools all carry out the same theme. The swivel chairs are Danish.

The photograph is a triple exposure taken with a 4x5 view camera on a tripod. The first exposure (of the sunset) was probably for about 2 seconds, using indoor film. Then after dark the room lights were turned on and the second exposure was taken for about 2 minutes with the windows opened to avoid reflection. Finally, for the final exposure, the camera was once more re-cocked, the aperture opened wide, the room lights turned off, the speed set to "T" and the shutter opened for an exposure of an hour or two to burn in the city lights.
